Bus Driver Suffers Heart Attack, Manages to Avert Major Tragedy in Kodagu

Madikeri: A private bus travelling from Bengaluru tilted precariously near Talathmane, close to Madikeri, after its driver reportedly suffered a severe heart attack while behind the wheel in the early hours of Friday. The incident occurred around 5 a.m., creating panic among passengers onboard.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver experienced chest pain while driving but still attempted to bring the vehicle under control to avoid a major accident. Despite his condition, he managed to steer the bus towards the side of the road and into a roadside drain, causing the vehicle to tilt and come to a halt. His timely action ensured that all passengers escaped safely without injuries.

The private bus had reportedly left Bengaluru on May 7 and was heading towards Kodagu when the incident took place near Talathmane. Locals and passengers rushed to help after the bus stopped dangerously close to the roadside.

The driver, whose condition is said to be serious, was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital in Madikeri for treatment, according to reports.

Personnel from the Madikeri traffic police arrived at the spot soon after the incident to inspect the area and regulate traffic.
