28 Arrested in Kodagu Homestay Gambling Raid, ₹11 Lakh Cash Seized

Madikeri: The Kodagu district police arrested 28 people for allegedly indulging in illegal gambling during a raid at a homestay in Kadagadalu village under the Madikeri Rural Police Station limits in the early hours of Wednesday.


According to the police, acting on credible information about a gambling session involving cash betting, personnel from the Madikeri sub-division Special Crime Detection Team conducted a raid at the homestay at around 2 a.m.


During the operation, 28 accused persons, all residents of Mandya district and Bengaluru South district, were taken into custody. Police said the accused were allegedly participating in gambling activities at the premises.


The police seized cash amounting to ₹11,08,130, five cars, one two-wheeler and 35 mobile phones during the raid.


A case has been registered at the Madikeri Rural Police Station under Section 80 of the Karnataka Police Act, and further legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused.


In a statement, the Kodagu district police said the successful operation was carried out by the Madikeri sub-division Special Crime Detection Team based on specific intelligence. The Superintendent of Police, Kodagu, commended the investigation team for their swift action in busting the illegal gambling operation.
