New Delhi: Kodagu–Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has urged the Union government to expedite key measures aimed at improving telecommunication connectivity in Kodagu district.
In a meeting with Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia, the MP submitted a formal request seeking the immediate installation of battery backup systems for telecom towers across the region, which frequently experience disruptions due to erratic power supply.
Mr. Yaduveer also appealed for the allocation of 15 new power plants to support the district’s telecom network, stating that such an intervention is essential to ensure uninterrupted services, especially in rural and hilly areas.
Recalling the heavy rainfall that lashed Kodagu recently, Wadiyar noted that multiple poles had fallen, leading to widespread disruption of communication networks and significant hardship for residents. He added that he had previously written to the Minister, urging upgrades to the district’s telecommunication infrastructure.
Emphasising the long-standing challenges faced by Kodagu, the MP called for “swift and decisive action” from the Ministry to accelerate the district’s digital development. “I urged the Ministry to accord priority to reinforcing basic infrastructure and to take swift, decisive steps toward the overall development of telecommunication services in the region,” he added.
The MP said that Scindia had assured him the issue would be examined promptly and appropriate measures would follow.
