
Kushalnagar: Two people lost their lives in separate road accidents in Kushalnagar taluk over the weekend, police confirmed.
In the first incident, an engineering student was killed during a college trip to Kodagu on Saturday. A group of nearly 70 students from an engineering college in Tamil Nadu had visited various tourist spots in the district. The bus carrying the students was parked by the roadside near Guddehosur when the tragedy occurred.

According to the police, Agustin Das, 22, one of the students, had gone to drink tea and was crossing the road to return to the bus. A speeding four-wheeler hit him, killing him instantly. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, prompting the Kushalnagar police to register a hit-and-run case. Authorities have launched an investigation to trace the vehicle and the driver involved.
In a separate accident, Abhi, 27, a resident of Kanive village, died on the spot after a goods vehicle hit his bike near Hebbale. Police stated that Abhi was returning home from his shop when the accident occurred.
The driver of the goods vehicle has been taken into custody, and an investigation is ongoing.
