Srimangala: After The Kodagu Express published an article on how all three check dams constructed in Srimangala village, located on the same river within a two-kilometer radius, have failed to deliver the intended results, Ajjikuttira S. Ponnanna, Virajpet MLA and legal advisor to the Chief Minister, visited the spot on Tuesday, 14th May.
Ponnanna visited the spot, inspected the three check dams, spoke to the local residents, and assured them that he would resolve the issue soon.
The Kodagu Express article published five days back with a headline 'Check dams in Srimangala, Kodagu fail to deliver promised results' highlights the issues surrounding the three check dams constructed on the "Nat Kund" river originating from Birunani village in Ponnampet taluk. These dams were intended to store water for agricultural and drinking purposes. However, the actual situation contrasts sharply with expectations. The failure of these check dams is considered an anomaly in the context of check dam construction and its intended functionality, residents complained.
