Schools, Anganwadis, and Colleges in Kodagu to Remain Shut on July 25 Due to Heavy Rain Forecast

Madikeri: In view of the renewed monsoon activity in the region, all schools, anganwadis, and pre-university (PU) colleges in Kodagu district will remain closed on Friday, July 25.

Deputy Commissioner Venkataraja issued the order on Thursday, declaring a holiday for educational institutions as a precautionary measure following weather forecasts predicting heavy rainfall in the district.

Kodagu, which had seen a relatively dry spell earlier this month, has been experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall in several parts over the past few days. The monsoon has picked up pace again, raising concerns over waterlogging, landslides, and road accessibility in hilly and vulnerable regions.

Officials said the decision to suspend classes was taken to ensure the safety of students and staff.
