Bhagamandala: In preparation for the upcoming Cauvery Theerthodbhava, a large-scale sanitation service was conducted at the Talacauvery temple, the sacred origin of the river Cauvery. The Theerthodbhava, a significant religious event, will take place on October 17 at 7:40 a.m., drawing thousands of devotees from across the region.
More than 350 Kodava devotees participated in the fourth annual temple cleaning drive. These devotees, dressed in traditional attire, have regularly travelled to Talacauvery and Bhagamandala to offer pooja and perform cleaning services every month for the past 45 months. Their consistent effort to maintain the sanctity of the temple premises reflects their deep cultural and religious commitment.
The recent cleaning service saw participants from various parts of Kodagu, as well as devotees from Bengaluru and Mysuru. They meticulously cleaned the temple area, focusing on key spots like the main gate, steps, and barricades near the sacred Kundike. The service attracted individuals from all age groups, including women, children, and elders.
The Roots Educational Trust from Shettigeri provided four buses to facilitate transportation for the devotees, while a special bus was arranged for those coming from Mysuru. In recognition of their efforts, the Bhagamandala-Talacauvery temple administration organised a lunch for the volunteers.
During the Cauvery Theerthodbhava, devotees immerse themselves in the temple’s sacred pond, believing the ritual cleanses both the body and soul. This event holds immense cultural and spiritual significance for the people of Kodagu and the broader Cauvery basin. The community’s collective service highlights their devotion and respect for this annual celebration.
