Kushalnagar: Early Friday morning, residents from Kushalnagar and surrounding areas including Mullusoge, Kudumangalore, and Hebbale in Kodagu district reported feeling what they described as earthquake-like tremors.
According to messages circulating in local WhatsApp groups, the residents claimed that they experienced the earth shaking for approximately two seconds at around 6:35 a.m, Prajavani reported.
As most people were still asleep at the time, only a few individuals reported feeling the vibrations. The sudden tremor caused concern among those who were awake, leading to discussions and speculations on social media.
Kiran Gowraiah, the Tahsildar of Kushalnagar Taluk, stated that no official complains of an earthquake had been received so far.
The Kodagu Express also reached out to the Kodagu District Disaster Management Control Centre, where officials confirmed that they have not received any complaints regarding the incident.
As of now, it remains unclear whether the reported tremors were indeed caused by an earthquake or by some other phenomenon. The authorities are expected to conduct further investigations to determine the cause and provide clarity to the concerned residents.
