Omkareshwara Temple in Madikeri to Hold Special Prayers for Indian Army Following Minister’s Directive

The minister’s instruction to the Endowment Department follows the Indian military’s ‘Operation Sindoor’, a cross-border strike reportedly aimed at terrorist bases in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

MADIKERI: In response to a recent directive from Karnataka’s Muzrai and Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, special prayers dedicated to the Indian Army will be held at the Omkareshwara Temple in Madikeri on Thursday morning.

The minister’s instruction to the Endowment Department follows the Indian military’s ‘Operation Sindoor’, a cross-border strike reportedly aimed at terrorist bases in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The military action, conducted on May 7, is believed to be a retaliation for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives.

In an official note issued on Tuesday, Mr. Reddy stated, “Extending our heartfelt wishes to the Indian Army on the successful execution of this operation. All temples managed by the Muzrai Department are hereby instructed to hold special prayers invoking the deity’s blessings for the Army’s continued strength and protection.”

Officials from the historic Omkareshwara Temple confirmed that the temple would adhere to the minister’s order. “Following the minister’s directive, we will organise a special prayer ceremony on May 8 at 9 a.m. to honour the bravery and dedication of our armed forces,” said a temple official.

Temples across Karnataka governed by the Muzrai Department are expected to participate in similar ceremonies to express solidarity with the armed forces and seek divine blessings for their safety and success.
