Madikeri: Member of Parliament from Mysore–Kodagu, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, has urged Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to install mobile towers at multiple identified locations across Kodagu district to address persistent issues of poor and non-existent mobile network connectivity.

In a letter dated January 2, 2026, addressed to the Principal General Manager (Telecom), BSNL, Mysuru, the MP highlighted that several parts of Kodagu continue to suffer from weak telecom infrastructure, causing inconvenience to the public and hampering access to essential services.

According to the letter, mobile towers are required to be installed at over 30 locations across the district. These include Madapura 1 and 2, Aigoor, Convent Junction and Sudarshan Guest House in Madikeri, Mekeri, Somwarpet 2, Siddapur Bus Stand, K. Shettigeri, Virajpet–Kolarahalli, Kunjilageri, Kirundad, Koleri, Suntikoppa 1 and 2, Sampaje, Harihara, Katakeri, Kedakal, Ramenahalli, Ivathokalu, Murnad, Hoddur, Hodavada, Nellihudikeri, Palangala (near a resort), Kembukolly, Guyya, Chowdlur, Rangasamudra, Yedur, Badagotta, Devanigeri, Nishinibettta, Iruppu, Mukkodalu, Kakkabbe and Nallur.

The MP noted that the lack of reliable mobile connectivity in these areas has adversely affected residents, particularly during emergencies, and has also impacted tourism, business activities and the delivery of public services in the hilly district.

Wadiyar has requested BSNL to initiate and complete the necessary procedures for the installation of mobile towers at the earliest, in the interest of public convenience and improved telecom connectivity in the region.

“This is issued for information and necessary action,” the MP stated in the communication, urging the telecom service provider to prioritise the long-pending demand from residents of Kodagu.
