Bengaluru: Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has rolled out fare reductions ranging from 5% to 15% on several of its premium bus services operating from Bengaluru to Kodagu and other key destinations, with effect from Monday, January 5, 2026.
The discounted fares apply to popular services such as Rajahamsa, non-AC sleeper, Airavata, Airavata Club Class, AC sleeper and multi-axle AC sleeper buses on the Bengaluru–Madikeri and Bengaluru–Virajpet routes.
Officials said the move is aimed at drawing more travellers during the conventional lean travel period between January and March, when passenger volumes typically dip. By offering lower fares on high-end services, the corporation hopes to improve seat occupancy and maintain steady ridership during the off-season.
Speaking to The Kodagu Express, a senior KSRTC official explained that the corporation usually raises fares on premium services by around 10–15% during peak travel months such as April to June and again from October to December, when demand is strong. “Once the peak season ends, fares are generally restored to normal levels. This year, we have gone a step further by offering additional discounts to encourage travel on premium routes,” the official said.
Beyond Kodagu-bound services, similar concessions have been extended to select intercity and interstate routes, including Bengaluru–Mangaluru, Udupi, Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya, Puttur, Davanagere, Shivamogga/Sagara, Chennai, Hyderabad/Secunderabad, Tirupati, Coimbatore, Thrissur and several other destinations.
