Napoklu: Kodagu district police arrested a man identified as Mohammad KM for cultivating ganja plants within his coffee estate in Emmemadu village, near Napoklu.
The police raid, conducted on Saturday, resulted in the seizure of 35 kg 650 g of fresh ganja, 42 ganja plants, 13 stalks, and 275 g of dried ganja, all classified as banned substances.
The raid was led by officers from Madikeri’s Cyber, Economic, and Narcotics (CEN) station. Upon discovering the illegal plantation, the police confiscated a total of 37.675 kg of fresh and dried ganja from Mohammad’s estate. He was promptly arrested at the scene.
Mohammad had been illegally cultivating the ganja plants within his coffee plantation, according to the police. The arrest was part of a broader effort by local law enforcement to curb the illicit cultivation and distribution of narcotics in the region.
A case has been registered at the CEN station, and an investigation is currently underway.
