Kushalnagar Mini Airport: Kodagu District Authority conducts Survey for Airstrip Development

Kushalnagar: Kodagu district authorities recently conducted a survey for the proposed establishment of a mini airport in the district.

According to reports, the survey and proposal on the airport land identified in Koodige by the District Commissioner will be sent to the state government soon.

In December 2019, the Union Civil Aviation Ministry chose the Kushalnagar airstrip as part of the fourth round of the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), also known as the Ude Desh ka Aam Nagarik (UDAN) Scheme. This designation classified the airstrip as an unserved airport, indicating that it had not hosted any scheduled commercial flights.

In 2018, a Government Order was issued to develop the Kushalnagar airstrip, along with other airstrips in Chikkamagalur, Karwar, Raichur, Gadag, Bagalkot, Davanagere, and Udupi.
