KSRTC Launches Airport Flybus between Bengaluru International Airport and Virajpet, Kodagu

This marks the second destination in Kodagu district after Madikeri to receive direct airport Flybus service.

VIRAJPET/BENGALURU: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has introduced a Flybus route connecting Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru with Virajpet, via Mysuru.

The service commenced on March 16, 2025, in response to growing demand for direct airport connectivity from Virajpet. “Tickets are priced at ₹1,200, with the bus departing KIA at 03:30 and leaving Virajpet at 12:45,” Latha T.S., Chief Public Relations Officer of the KSRTC told The Kodagu Express.

This marks the second destination in Kodagu district after Madikeri to receive direct airport Flybus service. The initiative addresses long-standing calls from travelers for comfortable, economical, and time-efficient transit options between Coorg and Bengaluru’s international airport.

KSRTC’s Flybus fleet features Volvo multi-axle, air-conditioned luxury coaches equipped with reclining seats (2+2 layout). The service was first launched on August 13, 2013, linking Bengaluru Airport with Mysuru. It has since expanded to include destinations such as Madikeri, Manipal, and Kundapur.

Initially operating with a single bus, ridership grew dramatically—from approximately 8,676 passengers in 2013–14 to over 190,000 by 2017–18. By 2020, KSRTC was running 11 buses with 20 daily trips.

The Flybus model emphasises fixed schedules aligned with flight timings and travel convenience—an affordable and safer alternative to private taxis, especially for long journeys.

“These features align with KSRTC’s broader strategy to improve inter-city travel and support tourism and business connectivity across southern India. With the Virajpet service now operational, travellers from Coorg gain another reliable link to Bengaluru airport, reinforcing KSRTC’s commitment under its Flybus initiative to offer top-tier, cost-effective regional transportation solutions,” official added.
