Bengaluru: Kodagu native IAS officer Cauvery B.B., who served as Secretary to Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has been transferred following the change in leadership in Karnataka, with D.K. Shivakumar taking oath as the Chief Minister on June 3.

According to a government notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) on June 3, IAS officer Rajendra Cholan P. has been posted as Secretary to the Chief Minister, vice Cauvery B.B., indicating her transfer from the post. The order, however, does not specify her new posting.

Cauvery B.B. had been appointed as Secretary to the Chief Minister in October 2024, a position considered one of the most significant assignments in the State administration due to its direct role in coordinating the functioning of the Chief Minister’s Office and liaising with various government departments.

In addition to her responsibilities in the Chief Minister’s Office, she was also holding the concurrent charge of Secretary to the Department of Information and Public Relations. During her tenure, she was involved in administrative coordination and communication-related functions of the government.

An officer of the Indian Administrative Service, Cauvery B.B. hails from Kodagu district and is among the prominent officers from the region serving in the State bureaucracy. She is the daughter of Ballatikalanda K. Belliappa (Babbu) and B.B. Parvathy.

She is married to Bolandanda Muthanna, a native of Kargunda in North Kodagu.

The transfer is part of the administrative reshuffle that has followed the appointment of D.K. Shivakumar as Karnataka’s new Chief Minister. Such changes in key positions within the Chief Minister’s Office are common following a change in political leadership, as the incoming Chief Minister typically constitutes a new administrative team to assist in governance and policy implementation.
