Kodagu-Mysuru MP Yaduveer Wadiyar Distributes Assistive Devices to 201 Persons With Disabilities in Kodagu

At a distribution event held at Red Cross Bhavan in Madikeri, the MP handed over 344 assistive devices, valued at ₹20 lakh, to 201 beneficiaries across the district.

Madikeri: Kodagu-Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar distributed assistive devices to persons with disabilities in Kodagu district, under the Socially Oriented Civil Scheme implemented by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

At a distribution event held at Red Cross Bhavan in Madikeri on Tuesday , the MP handed over 344 assistive devices, valued at ₹20 lakh, to 201 beneficiaries across the district.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Wadiyar noted that all individuals rely on support at different points in life, and it is essential to ensure that persons with disabilities are provided with adequate opportunities and resources. He emphasised that their contributions to society and nation-building must be recognised and supported.

“To build a strong and inclusive society, everyone’s participation is important. We must extend all possible assistance to persons with disabilities so they can lead independent and dignified lives,” he said.

He also reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India under the “Viksit Bharat” initiative and said that collective efforts, including those of persons with disabilities, are vital for comprehensive national progress.

Tipanna Sirasagi, Deputy Director of the Department of Women and Child Development, said that disability is not a limitation, and individuals should make use of government schemes to pursue self-employment and lead self-reliant lives.

Ravindra Rai, president of the Red Cross Society, highlighted the organisation’s support initiatives, including the recent distribution of raincoats to 25 persons with disabilities. He also requested the MP’s support in completing the construction of the upper floor of the Red Cross building.

District Officer for the Welfare of Persons with Disabilities, Vimal, said the distribution was being carried out across taluks due to persistent rainfall.
