Kodagu District Declares Holiday Due to Red Alert for Heavy Rain Tomorrow

Kodagu Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja has announced a holiday for Anganwadis, schools, and colleges tomorrow (Wednesday).

Madikeri: Kodagu Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja has announced a holiday for Anganwadis, schools, and colleges tomorrow (Wednesday) 31 July due to the red alert issued for the district. However, graduation and post-graduation colleges will remain open.

The district, also known as Coorg, has been facing relentless rainfall for the past ten days. Rivers such as the Cauvery and various rivulets have been overflowing, exacerbating the situation. The Indian Meteorological Department has declared a red alert for Kodagu for the next 48 hours, with no immediate end in sight to the heavy rains.

The incessant downpour has led to significant flooding on many roads and minor landslides throughout the district. The ongoing weather conditions have prompted the district administration to take preventive measures to ensure the safety of students and the general public.
