Hindus, Muslims, and Christians Unite to Celebrate Ganesha Festival in a Village in Kodagu

During the Ganesha procession near the mosque, Muslim community members generously distributed water, juice, and sweets to participants.

Suntikoppa: In a heartwarming display of communal harmony, residents of Boikeri, a village near Suntikoppa in Kodagu district, came together to celebrate the Ganesha festival with great enthusiasm. People from different faiths—Hindus, Muslims, and Christians—participated in the festivities, highlighting their unity and mutual respect.

During the Ganesha procession, which passed by the local mosque, members of the Muslim community played a generous role by distributing water, juice, and sweets to those taking part in the celebration. This act of kindness demonstrated the village's commitment to fostering goodwill among all, regardless of religious differences.

“We’ve been celebrating the Ganesha festival together for years now,” said Swaghat, a resident of Boikeri. “It’s more than just a religious event; it’s a way for us to come together as a community.”

“Celebrating festivals together helps strengthen communal bonds, allowing people from different faiths to understand and respect each other's traditions,”” he added. In a time when differences are often magnified, events like the Ganesha festival in Boikeri provide a reminder that unity and harmony can thrive when people work together.

Rahmath Khan, another resident, shared, “For the past 12 years, Hindus, Muslims, and Christians from our village have been members of the organizing committee for the Ganesha festival. We make sure the festival is celebrated on a grand scale, and everyone is involved.”

The Ganesha festival committee in Boikeri is a true reflection of the village's inclusive spirit. The committee comprises members from all three religious communities, with the youth actively participating to ensure the festival’s success.
