Guest lectures in Kodagu colleges protest unpaid salaries, call for State Government intervention

Amidst the guest lectures of Field Marshal KM Cariappa College in Madikeri is protesting against the authorities for not receiving their salaries for the past five months. Harish Acharya, a former Syndicate member of Mangalore University, has called on the university to release a white paper detailing its financial status on Monday, March 4.


Mr. Acharya conveyed in a statement that the guest teachers and temporary non-teaching staff, encompassing the university, its constituent colleges, and the post-graduate center at Mangalagangotri (Konaje), are facing delays in receiving their salaries.


According to Mr. Acharya, 18 guest teachers employed by Mangalore University at the Chikkaluvara Post Graduate Centre and 43 guest teachers appointed at Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa College, Madikeri both located in Kodagu district for the ongoing academic year have not received their salaries for the past five months.The colleges in Kodagu district are currently undergoing a transition to the newly established Kodagu University.


Mr. Acharya mentioned that the university is currently facing challenges in contributing to the provident fund accounts of both its teaching and non-teaching staff. He called for the State government's intervention to rectify the university's financial situation, emphasizing that the delay in salary disbursement is causing difficulties for guest teachers and temporary non-teaching staff.
