Madikeri/Virajpet: As of January 29, 2025, the latest spot lift prices for different types of coffee have been recorded as follows:

• Robusta Cherry EP – 451(Spot lift)

• Robusta Fruit – ₹100 per kg (Spot lift)

• Arabica Cherry – ₹13,000 per bag

  
  

The Robusta is a widely cultivated variety in Kodagu, the premium Arabica, known for its superior quality and rich aroma, is also cultivated in Coorg. 

Kodagu, plays a crucial role in the country's coffee production. The prices of coffee are influenced by multiple factors, including global market trends, weather conditions, and export demands. Recently, coffee growers in the region have been raising concerns about rising production costs, erratic rainfall, and labour shortages, which impact yield and profitability.

Industry experts suggest that while Arabica coffee continues to fetch higher prices due to its premium quality, Robusta remains the preferred choice for bulk buyers and instant coffee manufacturers. 

With Kodagu’s coffee economy heavily reliant on both domestic and international trade, any changes in pricing will have a direct impact on the livelihoods of thousands of farmers in the region.
