Centenarian Milestone: Baduvamanda Ponnakki Celebrates 106th Birthday in Kodagu

Born into the Kavadichanda family in 1918, Ponnakki married the late Baduvamanda Thammaiah.

Madikeri: The Baduvamanda family in Kodagu recently celebrated the remarkable 106th birthday of Ponnakki Baduvamanda, a cherished elder of the Kodava community, on 25 August.

Born into the Kavadichanda family in 1918, Ponnakki married the late Baduvamanda Thammaiah. She has been a central figure in her family, embodying Kodava traditions and values. Ponnakki’s long life has been filled with the warmth and love of her family, including her daughter, who is married into the Chappanda Babu Bopaiah family. 

The legacy of Ponnakki’s family continues through her two granddaughters, one grandson, and two great-grandchildren, who gathered alongside other relatives to mark this special occasion.

Family members noted the celebration was intimate but filled with joy, as they honoured Ponnakki’s extraordinary longevity and the rich history she carries with her.
