Virajpet: Actor Rashmika Mandanna has strongly condemned the circulation of an alleged private audio conversation involving her family, warning that legal action will be taken against those spreading what she described as “defamatory or privacy-violating content”.
On March 11, 2026, an alleged telephonic conversation between Rashmika’s mother, Suman Mandanna, and another person surfaced on social media and quickly went viral. The audio clip reportedly revived discussions about Rashmika’s past relationship with actor Rakshit Shetty. Rashmika and Rakshit had announced their engagement on July 3, 2017, but called it off the following year.

Reacting to the controversy, Rashmika shared a statement on Instagram expressing concern about the circulation of the audio clip. She said the content appeared to be from an old private conversation recorded nearly eight years ago without the knowledge or consent of those involved.

“What has happened in the last 24 hours crosses a line that can’t be ignored. An old private conversation, believed to be from nearly eight years ago, appears to have been recorded and circulated without the knowledge or consent of those involved,” she wrote.
The actor added that only a portion of the conversation had been shared online and taken out of context. “A small portion of that conversation has now been deliberately taken out of context and circulated widely to create yet another discomforting controversy strategically coinciding with recent developments in my personal life,” she said.
Rashmika criticised those spreading the clip, accusing them of “manufacturing hate and controversy”. She said that while people move forward in life and focus on meaningful work, it was unfortunate that some continue to target others’ dignity and peace.
The actor also issued a warning that legal action would be initiated if the content was not removed. “Those circulating this content or related narratives must remove them immediately. Failing this, starting tomorrow (March 13, 2026), legal action will be initiated — including the issuance of legal notices to individuals, digital platforms, influencers, or media organisations involved in the continued circulation of defamatory or privacy-violating content, in accordance with applicable law,” she said.
