BSNL Staff Injured as Their SUV Hits Tipper Truck in Kodagu

The damaged SUV after it rammed into a tipper truck on the Murnad–Virajpet main road in Kodagu.

Virajpet: A SUV carrying employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) rammed into the rear of a tipper truck on the Murnad–Virajpet main road in Kodagu district on Friday, leaving several passengers injured.

The accident occurred at Kakotuparambu when the tipper truck was travelling from Murnad towards Virajpet. According to the police, the SUV, which was moving along the same stretch behind the truck, reportedly lost control and crashed into the rear of the heavy vehicle.

Passengers travelling in the SUV sustained injuries due to the impact and were immediately shifted to the Virajpet government hospital for treatment. Hospital sources said that the injured were undergoing medical care and their condition was stable.

The collision caused extensive damage to the SUV, which was badly mangled in the accident. The tipper truck, however, suffered only minor damage.

Police personnel rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the incident. They conducted a preliminary inspection, cleared traffic congestion on the busy stretch, and initiated further investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
