In the Kodava language, 'namme' means festival. Boad namme typically finds its celebration centered around areas housing temples dedicated to Bhadra Kaali. Recently, Chembebelluru village witnessed the vibrant spectacle of Boad namme, drawing numerous participants who adorned themselves in diverse costumes and makeup to partake in the revelry.
What sets this festival apart is its inclusive nature, welcoming individuals from all walks of life regardless of their financial means. Among the common disguises featured during the festivities were 'Hulivesha,' 'Pillubhoota,' 'Bandkali,' and an array of fanciful outfits. Men would adopt female garb and engage in spirited dances. As the event drew to a close, all joined in rhythmic harmony, swaying to the tunes of musical bands.
