Virajpet: The Akhila Kodava Kembatti Samaja has announced its wholehearted support to the Kodava Sahitya-Sanskriti Andolan2026 (Kodava Literature-Culture Movement), scheduled to be held at the Kutta Kodava Samaj on Saturday, February 28. The programme is being organised in association with the Karnataka Kodava Sahitya Academy and Kutta Kodava Samaj.

In this connection, a delegation led by Kembatti Samaja President Billirikuttada Prabhu Ayyappa met Ajjinikanda Mahesh Nachaiah, President of Karnataka Kodava Sahithya Academy in Virajpet and conveyed the Samaja’s formal support for the event.

Addressing the gathering, Prabhu Ayyappa said the Kembatti community, regarded as one of the indigenous communities of Kodagu that follows the Kodava language and culture, continues to remain socially and economically backward. He stressed the need for the government to extend all necessary facilities and welfare benefits to the community. He also urged that ‘All Kodava Kembatti’ be recognised as a separate category in the government’s caste classification.

He noted that the Kembatti community has upheld values of honesty, efficiency, justice and loyalty for generations. “The preservation and development of Kodava language and culture is not merely a responsibility but a sacred duty for us,” he said, adding that members of the community would participate in large numbers and extend complete cooperation to the Academy’s programme at Kutta.

Several office-bearers and directors of the Kembatti Samaja were present on the occasion, including Honorary President Chokuttada Chimma Ayyappa, Working President Balekuttada Uday Madappa, Vice Presidents Chawarekuttada Jeevan Poovaiah, Chimmikuttada Nitesh Ayyappa and others.
