Tourist From Chennai Trampled to Death by Elephant at Dubare Camp in Kodagu

Kushalnagar: A woman tourist from Chennai was killed after being trampled by a Dasara elephant at the Dubare Elephant Camp in Kodagu district on Sunday morning. The incident took place at the elephant bathing point on the banks of the River Cauvery, a popular tourist attraction where visitors gather to watch elephant activities.
The deceased has been identified as Juneshe (33), a homemaker from Chennai. She had travelled to Kodagu along with her husband, a software engineer, and their child as part of a family trip.
According to sources, the tragedy occurred when the Dasara elephant “Kanjan” suddenly attacked the woman near the bathing area. She sustained severe injuries in the incident and died on the spot.
Tourists and staff present at the camp were left shocked following the incident. Forest Department officials and local police rushed to the spot soon after receiving information.
Dubare Elephant Camp, located near Kushalnagar in Kodagu, attracts a large number of tourists every year for elephant interaction and river activities. Authorities are expected to conduct an inquiry into the incident and review safety measures for tourists visiting the camp.
