Madikeri: In a disturbing incident, the decomposed body of a newborn girl was found in a vacant plot 2 km from her home in a remote village in Kodagu district on Wednesday evening. The baby, born to a minor girl, had gone missing within five days of her birth.
The police registered a case after receiving a complaint from a health worker, and the baby's mother has been hospitalised, according to a repot by TOI. According to authorities, the minor girl was raped by a boy from the same village. Following this, a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act was registered against the accused boy, who is also a minor.
The girl’s pregnancy was discovered after an examination by government doctors, and she gave birth to the baby on October 17. The infant went missing on Monday, triggering a search that led to the tragic discovery.
