MLA Ponnanna stresses the necessity of democratic representation for the Kodava community

Dubai: Virajpet MLA and Karnataka Chief Minister’s Legal advisor Ajjikuttira S. Ponnanna said that it is very important for our Kodava community to have representation in a democratic system.

During his recent visit to Dubai, Mr. Ponnanna who was the chief guest at the Puthari get-together organized by the UAE Kodava Committee. He expressed the importance of community representation in democracy, emphasizing its necessity for systematic engagement in the democratic process.

"Regardless of our engagements and whereabouts, our focus should be dedicated to the preservation of our Kodava community. It is imperative for all of us to unite and reflect on the survival of our community," added Mr. Ponnanna.

Global Kodava Summit:

Amit Palengada, from 'Connecting Kodavas,' emphasized the need for fostering a shared commitment to the preservation of the Kodava community, regardless of geographic distances. He called on participants to actively back endeavors such as the Global Kodava Summit.

The Connecting Kodavas Trust is set to organize the Global Kodava Summit, featuring a diverse array of cultural programs, exhibitions, and seminars dedicated to safeguarding the distinctive traditions of the Kodava community. This event is scheduled to take place in Madikeri on December 29 and 30.
