Madikeri: A 36-year-old First Division Assistant (FDA), Prajwal, working at the Tahsildar's office in Kodagu, tragically ended his life by suicide after allegedly consuming poison.

The incident occurred following claims of harassment at his workplace. Prajwal's wife, B J Shruthi, filed a complaint alleging that her husband was driven to take this extreme step due to continuous harassment by Tahsildar Praveen and Shirastedar Gururaj.

According to Shruthi, Prajwal had been under immense pressure for the last six months, which culminated in his attempted suicide on September 10. He was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Mysuru for treatment but succumbed to his injuries on Saturday night. The Madikeri Town Police Station has registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter.

However, Tahsildar Praveen refuted the allegations of harassment. In his complaint to the police, Praveen accused Prajwal of forging his signature, which he claims was the catalyst for the unfortunate sequence of events.

Praveen elaborated on the circumstances, stating that a bill submitted by Prajwal was returned from the treasury on September 10 due to a signature mismatch. "After the bill was returned, Prajwal appeared distressed and left the office without informing anyone. Later, we discovered that he had consumed poison," Praveen explained. He also clarified that the office staff immediately rushed Prajwal to the hospital and reported the forgery to the Deputy Commissioner the following day. "There was no undue pressure on him from our end," Praveen added, dismissing the claims of workplace harassment.

The police are currently investigating both complaints to determine the exact cause behind Prajwal's tragic death.
