Kodagu Temple Priest’s Wife and Son Killed in Head-On Collision near Hathur

The deceased have been identified as Lalitha (70), wife of D. Pundarikaksha, a priest at a temple in B. Shettageri village, and their son Sudarshana (42), who was employed in Bengaluru.

GONIKOPPAL: In a tragic road accident near Hathur village on Friday, the wife and son of a local temple priest lost their lives after their Omni car collided head-on with a vegetable-laden lorry.

The deceased have been identified as Lalitha (70), wife of D. Pundarikaksha, a priest at a temple in B. Shettageri village, and their son Sudarshana (42), who was employed in Bengaluru.

Police said the accident occurred when the car, heading from Gonikoppal to B. Shettigeri, was hit by a lorry transporting vegetables to Mysuru. The impact of the collision was severe, killing both Lalitha and Sudarshana on the spot.

The Gonikoppal police visited the scene and registered a case in connection with the incident. Further investigation is underway.

Locals mourned the loss of the family and highlighted the need for better road safety measures on the route since it connects Mysuru and Bengaluru from Virajpet and Gonikoppal.
