Kodagu Fuel Prices Increase Sharply as Petrol Nears ₹112, Diesel Touches ₹100

With the latest revision, standalone fuel prices have cumulatively increased by nearly ₹7.5 per litre since the first hike announced on May 15.

Madikeri: Kodagu continued to feel the impact of rising fuel costs on Monday (May 25, 2026) after petrol and diesel prices were hiked for the fourth time in just ten days, pushing petrol prices in the district close to ₹112 per litre.

Following the latest increase of around ₹2.7 to ₹2.8 per litre across the country, petrol in Kodagu was priced at ₹111.95 per litre on Monday, up from ₹109.08 on Sunday. Diesel prices also witnessed a sharp rise, climbing to ₹99.85 per litre from ₹96.79 a day earlier.

With the latest revision, standalone fuel prices have cumulatively increased by nearly ₹7.5 per litre since the first hike announced on May 15. Monday’s increase marks the steepest single hike in the recent series, and the first increase of more than ₹1 per litre during the ten-day period.

India’s oil marketing companies had maintained stable fuel prices for nearly three months despite rising international crude oil prices before beginning gradual revisions earlier this month. The first hike on May 15 saw prices rise by ₹3 per litre, followed by two separate increases of 90 paise each in the following days.

The repeated hikes are expected to further burden motorists, transport operators, and daily commuters in Kodagu, where many residents rely heavily on private vehicles due to limited public transport connectivity in rural areas.

Meanwhile, India’s crude oil basket averaged $107.96 per barrel until May 22 this month. However, global Brent crude futures for July delivery fell nearly 4.8% to $98.59 per barrel on Monday morning amid reports of a possible peace deal between Iran and the United States, raising hopes of easing global oil prices.
