Bengaluru: India’s coffee industry is set for another major gathering as the India International Coffee Festival (IICF) returns to Bengaluru from February 26 to 28, 2027. The three-day event will bring together stakeholders from across the coffee value chain, from growers and roasters to café brands, baristas, equipment manufacturers and consumers.
The third edition of IICF is being organised by the Coffee Board of India in association with the Specialty Coffee Association of India (SCAI). The festival will provide a farm-to-cup platform to showcase India’s coffee industry, emerging trends and opportunities in the domestic and international markets.
The event comes at a time when India’s domestic coffee market has significant potential for expansion. Nearly 70% of coffee consumption takes place in cities, while southern India accounts for around 75-80% of the country’s consumption. However, coffee is increasingly gaining popularity in northern, western and eastern parts of the country.
India’s per-capita coffee consumption remains relatively low at around 0.07 kg a year, compared with the global average of 1.3 kg, highlighting the scope for further growth.
“India has grown some of the finest coffee on Earth for generations, and now, at last, India is drinking it,” said Hamsini Appadurai, President of SCAI and organiser of IICF.
A major attraction of the festival will be the National Coffee Championships. The competitions will include the 26th National Barista Championship, Brewers Cup, Indian Filter Coffee Championship, Latte Art Championship and, for the first time, Coffee in Good Spirits.
Winners of the national championships will represent India at the corresponding World Coffee Championships.
The championship qualifiers will be conducted in Bengaluru, Delhi and Navi Mumbai between August and October 2026, followed by the national finals in Bengaluru.
Coffee Board of India CEO and Secretary Kurma Rao M. said IICF has become an important platform for India’s coffee community as café culture expands and a new generation of consumers embraces coffee.
