Energy Minister George Approves New Substations to Improve Electric Infrastructure in Kodagu

This move is expected to improve power reliability and reduce outages in Kodagu, which has been grappling with frequent disruptions, impacting residents, businesses, and coffee growers alike.

Bengaluru: Facing ongoing power shortages, Kodagu district, known for its inadequate electricity infrastructure, may soon see a significant boost in its energy supply, with Karnataka's Energy Minister K. J. George approving the establishment of power substations in multiple areas.


This move is expected to improve power reliability and reduce outages in Kodagu, which has been grappling with frequent disruptions, impacting residents, businesses, and coffee growers alike.



On Thursday, George greenlit the construction of 66 KV substations in Hudikeri, Balale, Murnad, and Siddapura, along with 33 KV substations in Sampaje and Bhagamandala. He directed officials to expedite the process by completing the tender within 15 days to ensure timely commencement of work.


The approval comes after a meeting with Virajpet MLA A.S. Ponnanna and senior officials from the Energy Department in Bengaluru.
