Nearly Half of Gruha Jyoti Beneficiaries in Kodagu Re-Verified

Of the total 1,47,812 Gruha Jyoti beneficiaries in Kodagu, the records of 69,275 consumers have been re-verified so far.

Madikeri: The re-verification of beneficiaries under the Gruha Jyoti Yojana in Kodagu district has reached 47% since the exercise began on July 1, according to the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC).

CESC Executive Engineer Ramachandra said meter readers and linemen have been visiting households across the district to verify beneficiary details and collect updated information from consumers.

Of the total 1,47,812 Gruha Jyoti beneficiaries in Kodagu, the records of 69,275 consumers have been re-verified so far.

Taluk-wise, 17,250 records have been verified in Madikeri, 12,685 in Virajpet, 17,031 in Somwarpet, 12,268 in Kushalnagar and 10,041 in Ponnampet.

Among the five taluks, Somwarpet has recorded the highest progress, with 79.1% of beneficiary records re-verified. In contrast, Kushalnagar has recorded the lowest completion rate at 34.8%.

The Gruha Jyoti scheme provides eligible households with up to 200 units of free electricity every month. The ongoing re-verification exercise is aimed at ensuring that beneficiary records are accurate and up to date.

Ramachandra said the verification drive will continue until the end of August, and urged consumers to cooperate with CESC staff during house visits to facilitate the completion of the exercise.
